FPL gameweek 9: time to invest in Bournemouth?

Yes — the Cherries face Leeds at home in gameweek 9, followed by a very appealing fixture run. Marcus Tavernier (£6.4m) is the standout pick, combining goal threat with creativity from midfield after catching plenty of attention in recent weeks. Evanilson (£6.2m) is another strong option — a decent budget forward who should find scoring opportunities in this run, and a cheaper route into Bournemouth’s attack.

Antonio Silva (£5.0m) is the defender of choice for his defensive-contribution potential, but there’s no need to rush a triple-up on Bournemouth just yet.

FPL gameweek 9 dilemmas: Jackson, Haaland and Joao Pedro

Should you buy Nicolas Jackson (£6.7m) after his double against Man City? The Villa striker has four goals in his last four Premier League matches and looks to be finding his feet, with Fulham at home in gameweek 9 opening a lovely fixture run. He’s an appealing budget-forward alternative — the only concern is minutes, with Champions League rotation and young striker Brian Madjo (£5.4m) back from injury.

For captaincy, Erling Haaland (£15.7m) remains the standout option. He scored again against Aston Villa in gameweek 8 and is the only truly reliable premium asset in the game right now — though you don’t have to captain him every week.

Joao Pedro (£7.8m), meanwhile, is an easy sell after Xabi Alonso’s comments ruled him out for weeks. Benching him through the injury is tempting given his quality, but the timeline is unknown — and mid-priced forwards like Jackson and Evanilson have excellent form and fixtures right now.

FPL gameweek 9: sell Cherki, keep Arsenal?

Rayan Cherki (£8.0m) is a sell. The talent is obvious, but his minutes are a real concern — substituted at half-time against Villa in gameweek 8 after struggling for consistent starts. At that price you want 80-90 minutes every week. Tavernier offers a cheaper, more reliable alternative and frees up funds elsewhere.

Don’t sell your Arsenal players just because they travel to Liverpool in gameweek 9. David Raya (£6.2m) and Riccardo Calafiori (£6m) remain quality defensive options, and after Liverpool the Gunners face Hull, Newcastle, Man City and Brentford — plenty of opportunities for one of the league’s best sides.
