If your MacBook’s notch does nothing for you, a new app from a solo developer wants to change that. Nocto turns the notch into a small control center — with meeting join buttons, music controls, a file shelf and clipboard history all tucked into that black bar.

The standout feature is meetings: ten minutes before a call, the notch starts a countdown, and when the meeting begins it opens with a Join button for Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Webex and FaceTime. No more digging through a dozen windows when you’re running late.
What Else Nocto Puts in the Notch
Hover the notch to see what’s playing and skip or seek through songs. You can park files on a “shelf” right on the notch, pull up clipboard history to find anything you’ve copied — text, links, colors, screenshots — and check your Mac and AirPods battery at a glance.
The app is native and lightweight and requires macOS 14 or later. Pricing is a one-time purchase (no subscription, covers 3 Macs) with a 7-day free trial, and music features stay free forever. For this week’s launch, the developer is offering 30% off with code PRODUCTHUNT.
From a Frustrated MacBook Owner
Nocto was built by Yersultan, a solo developer from Kazakhstan, who says the notch is “the one part of my MacBook I look at all day, and it did absolutely nothing.” The app is launching on Product Hunt this week, and he says he’s building the next update based on what the community wants the notch to show next.
