Maple Leaf Pro’s rising star Rohan Raja is pushing back on Bret Hart‘s public reputation. Speaking with Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds podcast, Raja detailed his relationship with the WWE Hall of Famer and insisted the ‘Excellence of Execution’ is far kinder than many realize. “He’s such a sweetheart,” Raja said — “I don’t think many people see that side of him.”

How Rohan Raja Met Bret Hart at Dungeon Wrestling
Raja first met Hart in 2023 at a Dungeon Wrestling show in Calgary — the promotion run by Hart’s son, where Raja wrestled Chris Masters. “That was the first kind of proper time I met him,” Raja said. “Every time I’ve been back there, we’ve developed a nice connection.”
The bond deepened through a mutual connection: Raja’s close friend Mo Jabari, whom Hart has taken under his wing as a protege. “Every time I see Bret, he takes so much out of his day just to kind of chill and talk to me and ask me questions. When they say the stuff like don’t meet your heroes, Bret, I have nothing but good things to say about Bret.”
The Hitman’s Bar Story: Bret Hart Stops for Every Fan
Raja also shared a story about fan encounters with Hart at the Hitman’s Bar, the Bret Hart-themed bar in Calgary. After shows, when the wrestlers leave a closed-off section, fans swarm the bigger area — and Hart stops for everyone.
“His wife has to come and grab him because she’s like, ‘Bret, we have to go home,'” Raja recalled. “He stops and talks to everyone. How he’s asked me even about my family and stuff and how he remembers things — he’s just such a sweetheart.”
Raja’s praise lands at a moment when Hart has stayed in headlines with pointed comments about his rivals. Fans can check out Fightful Overbooked’s full interview with Rohan Raja in the video linked at the top of the original article.
