Week 9 of college football is going cosmic. UCF’s “Mission X” Space Game uniforms and Air Force’s space-themed alternates headline ESPN’s list of the best uniforms of Week 9 — with both schools paying tribute to the final frontier.

Fresh off one of the season’s biggest upsets — a top-five win over BYU last Saturday — UCF is keeping the good vibes rolling in Orlando. For a decade now, the Golden Knights have marked one home game a year as the season’s “Space Game,” honoring the school’s connection to the spacefaring industry as a longtime partner of NASA, whose Kennedy Space Center sits just a 45-minute drive from the stadium.
UCF Mission X Uniforms Honor Mercury, Gemini and Apollo
This year’s “Mission X” look is another strong entry in the annual alternate series. The uniforms have a base white color with clean light blue and red trim on the jersey, pants and helmets — based on the 1960s NASA aesthetic, with details paying tribute to three foundational programs of that decade: Project Mercury, Project Gemini and the Apollo Program.
The Knights, rebranded as the “Citronauts” for the night, own an 8-1 record in Space Games. They will wear the new threads against Baylor on Friday night, October 30.
Air Force Space Force Uniforms Replace Names With ‘Semper Supra’
Air Force is also going the space route this Saturday. Its alternate look eschews the program’s traditional nameplate for something bigger: honoring the Space Force. Replacing player names on the back of the all-black threads are the words “Semper Supra” — Latin for “always above” — a nod to the Space Force’s official march.
Rounding out the Week 9 style sheet, Nebraska is going with an all-black look in theme with the Cornhuskers’ Saturday game landing on Halloween.
