The video, captioned “POV: Having an eye battle with Nam Joo Hyuk,” showed the actor staring intently into the camera in a brown jacket and white shirt. What stood out was his eyes: Nam Joo Hyuk, who previously had a soft impression with barely visible double eyelids, displayed a distinct double eyelid line, creating a deeper and more intense look.
The sudden change sparked online speculation that he may have undergone double eyelid surgery. Others pushed back, suggesting that as he ages, the flesh around his eyelids naturally reduced, making his double eyelids more prominent.
Successful Comeback After Military Service
Nam Joo Hyuk completed his military service in September 2024 and returned with the Netflix series “The East Palace,” playing Gu Cheon, a character who can see spirits and cut them with a sword. The show recorded 4.9 million views within three days of release and ranked second in Netflix’s global Top 10 non-English show category, while the actor topped cast buzz rankings at the time.
