John Cena Classic Could Go Head-to-Head With AEW Worlds End on December 19

The mystery around the John Cena Classic may finally be solved on RAW on November 2 — but WWE’s December calendar has already dropped a major hint. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, December 19 is currently the frontrunner date, which would put Cena’s tournament directly against AEW Worlds End.

Meltzer pointed to WWE’s increasingly crowded December schedule as the reason the 19th stands out. WWE has already announced NXT TLC for December 12, the same day the company runs Wrestlepalooza in Australia that morning — leaving limited open Saturdays in the month.

Why December 19 Is the Favorite Date for the John Cena Classic

Per Meltzer, the only other realistic choice is December 5, since December 26 looks nearly impossible — WWE already has two house shows scheduled that night, including one at Madison Square Garden that is already advertised as a standard live event.

“To me, that puts 12/19 as the favorite for the Cena Classic, which would put it head-up against AEW Worlds End,” Meltzer noted, adding that he expected an official announcement soon.

Cena Promises John Cena Classic Details on RAW November 2

Fans will not have to wait much longer for answers. Cena returns to RAW on November 2 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with a special 6 PM EST start time, and he has promised to finally reveal details about the tournament. He teased the reveal on social media, writing: “The wait is over, the speculation ends 11/2. Let’s build this ‘Never Seen’ CLASSIC!”

Cena has kept nearly every detail of the tournament under wraps so far, so the Brooklyn appearance should fill in some massive blanks. And if December 19 is the date WWE announces, the John Cena Classic will instantly carry an extra storyline — a same-night showdown with AEW’s year-end pay-per-view.
