Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the Milwaukee Brewers’ historic World Series win during a Weekend Update segment that featured the return of Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle commentator character. Moynihan spent nine seasons on “SNL,” from 2009 to 2017, and his Drunk Uncle was a classic Archie Bunker-esque East Coast guy with blunt observations.

Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle Returns to SNL for Brewers’ First World Series Title
Moynihan returned to the Weekend Update desk Saturday night for Drunk Uncle’s 16th appearance on the show — this time to toast the Brewers’ first World Series championship. “My dream of a beer winning the World Series finally came true,” Drunk Uncle told Colin Jost. “Brewers in five!” He added that he’d been drinking since the team clinched Wednesday night — “and also for the last 57 years before that.”

Brewers manager Pat Murphy and players Sal Frelick and Christian Yelich walked onto the Update set carrying the Commissioner’s Trophy, assuring Drunk Uncle that Milwaukee’s championship was very real. “And we have something in common, Drunk Uncle,” Frelick told him. “We’ve also been drinking since Wednesday.”
The segment’s biggest laugh came at the end. Looking up at the 6-foot-4 Yelich, Drunk Uncle announced with full confidence, “Hey, I know you — you’re Pete Davidson, right?” The quip, referencing the former SNL cast member’s resemblance to Yelich, quickly became one of the night’s most talked-about moments.
The appearance marked Drunk Uncle’s first on a regular episode since October 2022, after his revival during SNL50: The Anniversary Special in 2025.
