‘It Feels So Nice to Represent My Country’
Rosa admitted the moment caught her off guard, even though she is a champion in CMLL and representing the promotion made sense. ‘Yes, it was. It was very emotional for me, to hear the national anthem. I was actually crying,’ she said. ‘It just feels so nice to represent my country, and it was weird because I was representing CMLL. But at the same time, I have to remember that I am a champion in CMLL, so it only makes sense. So, yeah, it was very special for me.’
The Mexican-born star, who wrestled for Team CMLL in the women’s edition of the tournament, said the occasion was made even more meaningful by it being her first Grand Prix appearance.
Skadi Pins Megan Bayne to Win the Women’s Grand Prix
The women’s Grand Prix concluded on October 23, with Skadi pinning former AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champion Megan Bayne to secure the victory for her side. The card also featured names such as Thunder Rosa representing Team CMLL, giving fans a stacked lineup of international and lucha libre talent.
Thunder Rosa’s comments underline how much the tournament means to the wrestlers involved — for her, it was about far more than the result, it was a moment of national pride.
