Jennifer Coolidge Returns For Season 2 Of ‘The Watcher’
The real estate agent who sold Naomi Watts’ Nora Brannock and Bobby Cannavale’s Dean Brannock their nightmare home is returning for season two of The Watcher.
Jennifer Coolidge, who played the ambitious and brassy realtor who donned pastel-colored power suits, is back for the second season.
It comes after Netflix revealed that the second season of the series, from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, is going into production, nearly four years after being renewed. Production begins this fall in New York.
Coolidge joins Watts, Cannavale, Margo Martindale, who played nosy neighbor Mo, and Isabel Gravitt, who played the married couple’s daughter Ellie Brannock, in returning.
The series followed the Brannock family who moved into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, and quickly became a living hell. Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” were just the beginning as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets came spilling out.
The season ended with the Brannocks moving out of the house to a New York apartment but Dean and Nora found themselves pulled back to the house.
Created by Murphy and Brennan, the latter serves as showrunner and the pair exec produce alongside Crystle Roberson Dorsey, who also directs, Nissa Diederich, Karl Frankenfield, Scott Robertson, Todd Kubrak, Tanase Popa, Naomi Watts, Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman, Eric Newman & Bryan Unkeless, and Max Winkler.
The White Lotus star Coolidge recently starred in A Minecraft Movie and is starring in the sequel, A Minecraft Movie Squared as well as Rebel Wilson-directed feature Girl Group.

Anne Hathaway Calls Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’ “Brilliant”: “It’s Worth Making The Time See & Decide For Yourself”
Anne Hathaway is a fan of Tom Cruise‘s Digger and just made that clear.
The Verity star took to Letterboxd to praise the satirical comedy written and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
“I loved this brilliant movie. It’s smart and trippy and aggressive and funny and ambitious,” Hathaway wrote on the social media platform. “It’s worth making the time see and decide for yourself what you make of it. For me? 10/10 .”
Hathaway gave Digger five stars in her first Letterboxd review. Other films she has listed as her favorite include Moonstruck, It Happened One Night, Mirror, and Phantom Thread.
Digger opened in theaters to an $8 million domestic debut, a $20M global start, and a C+ CinemaScore. Deadline reported that the film could lose around $150M.
Cruise, who also produced the film, stars as Digger Rockwell, an aging oil magnate whose drilling sets off an ecological disaster. The film’s cast also includes Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Teddy Hawley, Robert John Burke, Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman, Sophie Wilde, among others.
After the opening, Cruise said he was “proud” of the film despite the lackluster box office results.
“I am so honored to have had the opportunity to create this film alongside such talented artists,” Cruise posted on Instagram. “Thank you to the entire cast and crew for your dedication, hard work, and joy. The experience was truly unforgettable and I’m so proud of what we created.”

Sense and Sensibility Stars: New Film Isn’t Competing With Ang Lee’s
Thirty years after Ang Lee‘s famed adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, another telling of the Jane Austen classic has arrived — this one courtesy of director Georgia Oakley, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles.
Lee’s 1995 version — which starred Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant — won an Oscar for its script, penned by Thompson, and was also up for best picture. Those are some big footsteps to follow in, but at the film‘s Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday, Edgar-Jones said the intention was not to compete with the past film.
“I think that the great thing about Austen is because her writing is so timeless and transcendent and deep in terms of its themes, there’s always so much you can mine from it. I kind of think of her a little like Shakespeare, that every new individual that takes on her words and her characters will find something unique because of their uniqueness,” the star, who plays Elinor Dashwood, told The Hollywood Reporter. “I kind of feel like there’s a really beautiful conversation happening between each adaptation, and really the unifying quality being how brilliant and wonderful and amazing the Dashwood women are.”
Many in the cast — including Creed-Miles, Frank Dillane and George MacKay — say they avoided watching Lee’s film altogether, as Caitriona Balfe noted, “I think you’re just doing your own thing, and Georgia is somebody that had a very unique take on it, something that spoke to her and that’s what we were following and really excited. I love the Ang Lee version and I don’t think that it needs to be this compared to that, it’s just that these are two expressions of the same story but in different ways.”
Sense and Sensibility, Austen’s 1811 debut novel, follows three sisters after they’re forced to leave their family estate with their widowed mother and move to a humble cottage, finding love and heartbreak along the way.
On top of the iconic source material, Edgar-Jones also had some prior experience to draw on in the romantic drama genre, after starring in the 2020 hit series Normal People.
“I’ve always enjoyed stories that explore the stakes of a human life, I think it’s why Austen is so transcendent, because we all understand what it is to feel heartbreak and fall in love for the first time and how we grow in our early 20s and what we learn about ourselves,” she explained. “I suppose that’s always been something that’s really fascinated me, and also characters that maybe are initially overlooked that actually have a lot more to them if people take the time to find out. And Elinor is that in spades.”
Sense and Sensibility hits theaters Oct. 16.

Cyberpunk 2077 Live Action Film in Development at Paramount Pictures
Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, and based on Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red’s best-selling action-adventure role-playing game that stars Keanu Reeves as Samurai band leader Johnny Silverhand, a mercenary in a tech-obsessed world.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to produce alongside the Poland-based franchise rights holder. Cyberpunk 2077, which has sold more than 40 million copies, is an open-world action-adventure set in Night City, a megalopolis driven by power, glamour and body modification.
In the game, a mercenary outlaw named V is on the search for a one-of-a-kind implant that doubles as a key to immortality. The game, whose knock-down, drag-out gunfights recall another first-person RPG, Call of Duty, drew a lot of initial buzz over the character Johnny Silverhand played by Reeves.
An expansion of the Cyberpunk 2077 game, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has sold 15 million copies and stars Idris Elba as sleeper agent Solomon Reed. Projekt Red is also behind Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the Netflix series also set in the Night City dystopia and which followed the bow of Cyberpunk 2077.
Edgerunners was animated by popular Japanese anime studio Studio Trigger and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the team behind such series as Kill la Kill and Star Wars: Visions. Hollywood has developed a steady appetite for video game adaptations, especially on streaming platforms, after the success of HBO’s The Last of Us, a small-screen version of the 2013 action-adventure game from Naughty Dog and Sony, created by Chernobyl‘s Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, one of the game’s original directors.
