In an interview on October 27, Jay B spoke about GOT7’s contribution to JYP Entertainment’s revenue, saying it felt like the group had covered everything from the basement to the third floor. He added that the group actually generated quite a lot of revenue, and that it is a bit unfortunate that this is not widely known.

Jay B GOT7 JYP Entertainment Revenue Revelation

Jay B debuted as a member of GOT7 in 2014 and continued group activities under JYP Entertainment until his exclusive contract expired in 2021, after which he pursued independent activities. Now based at his own agency 528Hz, he personally designs everything from planning solo albums to music and stage direction according to his artistic vision.

Reflecting on the difference between agency life and independence, Jay B said big agencies can collaborate on large projects and manage risks well, but as a trade-off, autonomy and independence tend to be lower. Doing things alone gives a lot of autonomy and independence, he said, but you have to take full responsibility, and that difference is definitely significant.

Jay B and J.Y. Park Relationship Today

Although Jay B left JYP Entertainment and secured control over his music, his relationship with Park Jin Young remains close. Before his new single came out, he met Park for a meal and conversation, and shared a story about being nervous when presenting his new song.

He admitted he was worried about being scolded, so he almost did not play it for him, but gathered the courage and showed it. Park really liked it, Jay B said, and for the first time asked whether he had a choreography video. After watching the choreography video, Park definitely liked it, which Jay B said was typical of his style.

For GOT7 fans, the interview is a reminder of the group’s lasting legacy at JYP, and of a mentor relationship that has survived the move to independence intact.
