After six years of waiting, it’s finally happening. Atari Hotels has officially broken ground in Phoenix, Arizona, with construction on track to complete in late 2028 to early 2029 — and the centerpiece is a 2,000-plus person esports and concert venue that could make it the country’s next premier competitive gaming destination.

Atari Hotel Phoenix: Esports Venue, Creator Studios and More
First announced way back in January 2020, the project is being developed by Intersection Development under an exclusive license from the iconic Atari brand. The Phoenix property fuses gaming nostalgia with futuristic technology: high-tech guest rooms, creator studios, a sportsbook, and layers of immersive bars, restaurants and shopping.
Groundbreaking begins this week in Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row arts district. Phase 1 covers demolition of the existing building and site prep, with Phase 2 construction following shortly after. The project has celebrity investors on board, including Henry Cejudo and Adapt.
Why the Atari Esports Venue Matters for Gaming
“We’re pressing ‘start’ on Atari Hotels’ Phoenix property,” said Jordan Taylor, Partner at Intersection Development. “The opportunity to build an interactive venue like this in our hometown with an incredible partner like Atari is a privilege.”
If it delivers, Phoenix’s hotel will be the first immersive gaming hotel in the Western Hemisphere — a place where hospitality is “as interactive as gaming itself,” with a 2,000-seat arena ready to host major esports tournaments alongside concerts.
