The Diplomat Season 4 Numbers Earned the Renewal
This time, the show had to prove itself on the charts first — and it did. Season 4 debuted with 4.8 million views, matching Season 3’s opening, then rose to 5.5 million views in week two as the No. 3 most-watched English-language show on Netflix. It hit the Top 10 in 63 countries and set a new record for the show’s social impressions within 13 days of launch.
Across all four seasons, The Diplomat has spent 13 weeks in the Top 10, reached the Top 10 in 87 countries, and pulled over 130 million views since its April 2023 debut.
What We Know About The Diplomat Season 5
Netflix has released no plot details for Season 5 yet. Season 4 ended on a cliffhanger: Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) publicly resigned at a G7 summit, while Vice President Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) prepared to address the press. Season 4 also gave fans a full West Wing reunion, with President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) and First Gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford) both upped to series regulars.
Janney won the show’s first-ever Emmy — Outstanding Supporting Actress — in September, with the series earning seven Emmy nominations overall. Creator Debora Cahn returns as writer and executive producer.
