Grayson Waller is still NXT Champion — but he had to cheat to stay that way. Waller defeated Tony D’Angelo in the main event of the 2026 NXT Halloween Havoc Premium Live Event on October 31, retaining the title in his second defense of the belt.

The champion leaned into villainy early, taunting D’Angelo’s wife and baby at ringside. The Don responded by unleashing on Waller, and the match turned chaotic when Waller shoved D’Angelo into the referee — taking the official out of play.

With the referee down, Waller grabbed a crowbar, struck D’Angelo with it, and followed with his Rolling Thunder Stunner to steal the victory.

Crowbar Finish Sets Up CM Punk Confrontation

Waller’s tainted win didn’t go unanswered. Post-match, Halloween Havoc host Danhausen revealed that his friend had a message for the champion — and CM Punk appeared on screen to lay down a challenge for the NXT Championship on the November 4 episode of NXT.

Waller’s reign continues, but the target on his back has never been bigger. The trash-talking champion now faces a motivated CM Punk with just four days to prepare.
