CM Punk has put NXT Champion Grayson Waller on notice in the bluntest way possible. After Waller cheated his way past Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc, Punk appeared on the video screen and told the champion that NXT may be Waller’s house — but Punk is the landlord, and the rent is due.
Punk said he heard Waller running his mouth and made it clear he’s coming for him on Wednesday’s special NXT broadcast. The timing could not be worse for Waller, who just survived a brutal main event.
How Waller Escaped Halloween Havoc With the Title
The match was a war. Waller sent D’Angelo crashing into the barricade in front of his wife and son at ringside, then hit a rolling cutter through the announce table. D’Angelo answered with a spear for a near fall — but the turning point came when the referee was knocked out.
With the official down, Waller grabbed a crowbar, struck D’Angelo, and connected with the slingshot rolling cutter to steal the three-count.
Stacked Wednesday NXT Airing Opposite AEW Blood & Guts
Wednesday’s show — moved from the usual Tuesday slot due to election coverage — is becoming can’t-miss television. John Cena is set to appear live, Cody Rhodes will present the Dusty Cup to the Tag Team Classic winners, and the episode airs head-to-head against AEW Dynamite’s Blood & Guts.
Waller escaped Halloween Havoc with his championship intact. But Punk wants the rent — and he’s collecting Wednesday.
