The 35-year-old five-time Paralympic gold medallist crossed the line in the first round of the C4 sprint in a record time of 11.409 seconds. She eased through the semi-finals before edging past Australia’s Tara Neyland on the line in a close final to claim her first individual sprint world title.
Kadeena Cox’s Double Gold at the Para-cycling World Championships
Friday brought gold number one: Cox won the C4 1km time trial, also with a world record. Her sprint gold 24 hours later completed a dominant double at the championships.
There were further British golds in both the men’s and women’s tandem sprints. James Ball and Aaron Pope won their second golds of the championships, adding sprint victory to their 1km time-trial title, while Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl comfortably won the women’s tandem event to take their sixth world title.

Lizzi Jordan and Anna Whitworth-Hay claimed bronze after beating Germany in the third-place decider. Silver medals went to Elisabeth Simpson in the women’s C2 sprint, Archie Atkinson in the men’s C4 scratch and Fin Graham in the men’s C3 elimination race.
The medals take Great Britain’s tally at the championships to six golds, eight silvers and five bronze — a haul led by Cox’s record-breaking double that underlined her status as one of para-cycling’s all-time greats.
