Johnny Depp is finally addressing the question every Pirates of the Caribbean fan keeps asking: will he return as Captain Jack Sparrow? Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the press tour for his new film Ebenezer, the Oscar nominee stopped short of confirming anything — but he left the door wide open.

Johnny Depp on Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Return
Depp said he would never turn down a request from his friend, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “I will go to work with [Jerry] Bruckheimer tomorrow for anything. Doesn’t matter… if it’s Jerry, i trust him. We have a deep friendship,” he said.
As for what his involvement would actually look like, Depp framed it as a farewell: “If things are exactly where they need to be with regard to how they are going to top off the ‘Pirates’ franchise… the only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note.”
Will Jack Sparrow Appear in Pirates 6?
Depp’s answer is the clearest signal yet that a return is possible — but it is not a confirmation. Nothing about the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film is locked: no official cast, no production date, and no confirmation that Sparrow is even part of the plan. Still, with Depp publicly saying he wants to “send them off on a better note,” the ball is firmly in Disney’s court.
