iPhone 18 Pro could get a standout finish as Android rivals chase the same look

Apple’s next Pro iPhone might be getting a bold new look. Early leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro could arrive in a deep red finish. Interestingly, Android brands appear to be circling the same colour trend.

The rumour is not coming out of nowhere. Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple has been testing a darker red shade for both the Pro and Pro Max models.

Now, well-known Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station claims there’s a “high likelihood” the colour is real. They note that similar finishes have already shown up in prototypes from rival Android manufacturers.

That overlap raises a question: is everyone copying Apple, or just following the same playbook? It’s likely a bit of both. Smartphone brands, including Apple, often rely on global trend forecasting. This means that colours can converge naturally. Still, Android makers have a track record of reacting quickly to Apple’s design direction, especially in the premium space.

Of course, this is all still early. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 series in September, potentially alongside its long-rumoured foldable iPhone. Until then, colour options are always subject to change. This is especially at the prototype stage.

Currently, Apple sells the iPhone 17 Pro in three hues: blue, silver and Cosmic Orange. This rumoured deep red colour would likely replace the orange, joining two other, more subtle options. Previous rumours have suggested that we won’t see a black edition of the iPhone 18 Pro.

Still, if deep red makes the cut, it could be one of the more striking Pro finishes in years. Android rivals seem ready to match it.
