Dylan Mulvaney Responds to Trump WHCD Speech: ‘The Greatest Compliment
Dylan Mulvaney has responded to President Trump’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech, during which the commander-in-chief recounted a transphobic backlash to Mulvaney’s appearance in a Bud Light commercial.
“I’ve been kind of flying under the radar, keeping up a pretty low profile — just doing my little musicals, singing, dancing — and yet I am still his topic of conversation all these years later,” Mulvaney said in a video post shared to TikTok on Sunday evening. “It seems to me that I might be like the one that got away for these men. I am permanently burned into their retinas.”
“Maybe being publicly mocked and criticized by this administration is actually the greatest compliment of all, because it puts me in the company of some of the most brilliant, empathetic people in our world today,” Mulvaney continued. “They want to use their power to take away my freedom. But what they don’t understand is that my freedom has zero contingency on what they can provide for me because my freedom is fully dependent on the moment that I acknowledged my real authentic self. … They don’t want me to be able to share that because it would mean young people realizing that, if someone like me can be themselves and find success and freedom, then they can find success and freedom for themselves too.”
Mulvaney also used her video to congratulate CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins for being awarded at the WHCD, saying she was “incredibly honored to be compared” to Collins “in any way.” In Trump’s hourlong address at the event, the president stumbled into discussing Mulvaney by first comparing Collins to her. On Sunday, he called back to the remark by posting an image that edited Collins’ face onto Mulvaney’s body, seated in front of a table of Bud Light cans.
“I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,” Trump said.
“To the president, thank you for reminding me that I am more powerful than I even knew,” Mulvaney said, finishing her response. “And to quote my favorite recording artist, Shea Diamond, ‘I am America.’”
On Friday, Collins shared what seemed to be her own subtle response to her mention in Trump’s WHCD speech, posting an Eleanor Roosevelt quote, ‘No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.’”

After three years, Dungeons & Dragons has another campaign in store for fans of the 2023 movie… if it can just get the greenlight.
Jonathan Goldstein, who co-wrote and co-directed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with John Francis Daley, revealed at Comic-Con that they wrote a sequel to their 2023 adaptation of the tabletop role-playing game.
“We actually wrote a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons. We were hired to write it,” Goldstein told ScreenRant. “I don’t know that it will see the light of day for a number of financial reasons. They’re expensive movies to make, but it’d be great fun to do it. We love that cast, and we think we wrote something that fans would like.
Despite a solid 91% critic rating and 92% from fans on Rotten Tomatoes, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves grossed $205M worldwide on a $150M budget.
While a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series was ordered for Paramount+ in 2023, the streamer opted not to move forward with the Rawson Marshall Thurber-created show the following year. Hasbro has since shopped the project around, finding a new home at Netflix with a new iteration, entitled The Forgotten Realms, from Shawn Levy and writer-showrunner Drew Crevello.

With Deadpool regenerating for a fourth blockbuster outing, Ryan Reynolds is already getting back into character as the wisecracking mercenary.
After his surprise in-costume appearance at Comic-Con during Marvel’s Hall H presentation on Saturday, the Golden Globe nominee shared a behind-the-scenes video of his undercover visit with fans as he walked the floor at the San Diego Convention Center.
“The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago,” wrote Reynolds on X with the video. “Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after Deadpool & Wolverine, I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world.”
The video also featured a clip of Robert Downey Jr. calling on him while hitting the stage with his Avengers: Doomsday co-stars. “Who’s this guy with the swords and stuff?” asked the Doctor Doom actor.
“Long-time listener, first-time caller,” said Reynolds into the mic as the crowd cheered. “This seems an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?”
Reynolds’ surprise appearance comes after he teased last week at New York’s Fantastic Fest that Deadpool 4 is in the works.
“There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics,” said Reynolds. “There’s certainly some stuff that I love that [Deadpool co-creator] Fabian Nicieza wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer. There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great.”
After test footage of Reynolds as the Marvel anti-hero leaked in 2014, five years after he originated another version of the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), the actor earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in 2016’s Deadpool. He’s since reprised the role in Deadpool 2 (2018) and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), the latter earning $1.3B globally and catapulting the franchise past the $2B mark.

More than three years after sparking conservative backlash with her Bud Light social media partnership, Dylan Mulvaney was as surprised as anyone to hear her name in Donald Trump‘s mouth at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Counting “four times” the POTUS mentioned her name in his speech on Friday, the Broadway actress, TikTok personality and transgender advocate reacted to being “the one that got away” for MAGA men after Trump attempted to roast her in his hour-long “diss track” at the WHCA’s annual event.
“Firstly, I would like to congratulate CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on her award and tell her that I’m incredibly honored to be compared to her in any way, and I hope that she keeps doing all the great work,” prefaced Mulvaney in a TikTok video.
After the WHCA awarded Collins the Excellence in Presidential News Coverage Under Deadline Pressure, Trump joked in his set that he “thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,” to which the audience had no reaction.
“And Dylan Mulaney cost Bud Light $35 billion dollar in market cap,” Trump continued as the crowd stayed silent. “That was the worst commercial ever made, by the way, for those few people that want to hear that. Most people don’t care, but I would. I wouldn’t want to hire Dylan anytime soon. Think of it, they hired Dylan Mulaney and their market cap has gone down by $35 billion. Who wrote that commercial?”
Noting the Bud Light video Trump mentioned was more than three years ago, Mulvaney said in her video, “Mind you, I’ve been kind of flying under the radar, keeping up a pretty low profile, just doing my little musicals, singing, dancing, and yet I am still his topic of conversation all these years later. It seems to me that I might be like the one that got away for these men. I am permanently burned into their retinas. I am microchipped into their minds.”

In April 2023, Bud Light sent a can of their beer with Mulvaney’s face on it to her, which she featured in a TikTok video, prompting intense conservative backlash and a boycott of the brand.
After spectacularly bombing with his WHCD speech, Trump continued to take swipes at his enemies on Truth Social over the weekend with a flood of AI-generated images, including one post featuring Collins’ face on Mulvaney’s body in the Bud Light video.
