Tom Holland Will Play Spider-Man ‘For as Long as They’ll Have Me’

Tom Holland is swinging into his fourth Spider-Man film — and don’t expect it to be his last.

At the Los Angeles premiere for Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Monday, the star reflected on his long journey with the character, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “There’s a family here at Marvel and Sony. We’ve been making these movies for 10 years and we’re all really good friends and we all still really love working with together and there’s a shorthand, there’s a collaboration, there is a shared love for this character that is Peter Parker. When we all get together, it always feels like something magical happens, and to get to do it time and time again is something that will never really sink in for me. It still feels like this is my first-ever premiere for this character. It has been the gift of my life.”

The new movie is set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker has been anonymously protecting New York City until his superpowers undergo a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution.

First reactions to the film hit social media soon after the premiere ended.

Asked about his future as the superhero, Holland responded with a smile, “I will do it for as long as they’ll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see!” That’s probably a pretty safe bet, as Brand New Day is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the year at the box office — on the heels of fellow smash The Odyssey, also starring he and Zendaya.

Holland has spoken about how he called Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman and persuaded him to push back the production of Spider-Man so that he could first film The Odyssey, with the filming dates originally conflicting.

At the premiere, Rothman explained why he was willing to do so, saying, “We sort of recognized that it was a rare opportunity for him. It’s unusual, to say the least, that the two movies came out so close together but I’ve always believed that a rising tide lifts all boats. People are going to the movies again and The Odyssey is a great movie and people enjoy it. I think that’s ultimately going to be very good for Spider-Man as well.”

The schedule meant Holland arrived to the superhero set with many lessons from Christopher Nolan fresh on his mind; director Destin Daniel Cretton recalled that as soon as they kicked off filming, his “work ethic was incredible, the passion for the craft, the ability to make daring choices. I think when he stepped onto our set, he was just like pumped and ready to go, and he wanted to make something really great. It was wonderful — I’ll take any actor coming off of a Christopher Nolan set because they’re like ready to work their butts off to get the best product possible.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on Friday.

It’s finally here, and judging by initial reactions, it’s going to be a monster hit.

Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day held its glitzy, star-packed world premiere at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood on Monday night, and not long after the screening ended, the first reactions began to flood social media.

Destin Daniel Cretton‘s Brand New Day is the fourth standalone Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — as well as the 38th film overall in the MCU — and picks up the action after 2021’s near $2 billion-grossing Spider-Man: No Way Home. The films once again are led by Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, as well as Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson and Jacob Batalon as Peter’s best friend Ned Leeds.

The MCU’s Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/Punisher, Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan/Scorpion and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk also appear in the film. New cast members include Severance‘s Tramell Tillman and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, the latter of whom is playing an unknown character which has led to feverish speculation online.

“Keeping what Sadie’s doing under wraps, you’ll honestly understand when you see the movie. The movie is a better movie if you don’t know certain things,” Cretton said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The plot of Brand New Day follows the end of No Way Home, with the world — including MJ and Ned — having forgotten who Peter Parker is. Four years on, Peter is still protecting New York City as Spider-Man and he links up with street vigilante the Punisher to take on the likes of the Scorpion, all while his own powers undergo a new evolution.

Brand New Day is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who both co-wrote the other Holland Spider-Man films, including Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The film is produced Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O’Connor. The film is part of Phase Six of the MCU and is followed by December’s Avengers: Doomsday in the Marvel continuity.

Michael B. Jordan Reacts to David Jonsson’s Black Panther 3 Casting

Michael B. Jordan is finally giving his thoughts on David Jonsson being cast as the new Black Panther in Ryan Coogler‘s upcoming third installment in the superhero franchise.

At Comic-Con 2026 over the weekend, Marvel revealed that Jonsson will star as an adult version of the son of T’Challa, portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman in the 2018 original. Black Panther 3 will also film on 70mm and hit theaters Dec. 15, 2028.

A few days after the announcement, Entertainment Tonight caught Jordan at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere in Los Angeles Monday night to ask him about his thoughts on the casting.

“Oh, I love it. It’s amazing! I can’t wait, can’t wait!” the Oscar winner said in an excited tone.

Jordan — a longtime Coogler collaborator who won his first Oscar earlier this year for his role in the filmmaker’s Sinners — played villain Erik Killmonger in the 2018 film and the 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It hasn’t been officially announced whether Jordan will reprise his role in the third film.

After Boseman died in 2020 at age 43 following a battle with colon cancer, Jordan took to social media to pay tribute to his former co-star and friend. “One of the last times we spoke, you said we were forever linked, and now the truth of that means more to me than ever,” he wrote, adding, “I wish we had more time.”

Earlier this year, when Jorden was honored at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival with the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award, he also took a moment to remember Boseman, saying that the late actor was with him throughout filming Sinners.

“I loved that guy so much,” he added, “and it saddens me every time I think about it that I won’t get a chance to work with him again.”

Eva Mendes Reacts to Husband Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider Casting

It seems Eva Mendes has also felt that her husband, Ryan Gosling, would be the perfect man to take on Ghost Rider. So when it was revealed at Comic-Con 2026 over the weekend that the Oscar-nominated actor would be the next person jumping on the Hell Cycle, Mendes was clearly elated.

The actress and businesswoman took to Instagram on Sunday to offer her reaction to the news. She reposted a fan-edited video of the opening scene of The Place Beyond the Pines, which starred both Gosling and Mendes, with the text displayed on the clip, “From this intro only I thought Ryan Gosling can be a perfect casting for Ghost Rider role.”

Mendes added in the caption, “Love, Roxy,” referencing the character she played in 2007’s Ghost Rider, starring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze.

Elsewhere on her Instagram Story, she also reshared a video that featured clips of Mendes’ and Gosling’s characters from 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines. It also included the text, “Ghost Rider in a parallel universe,” and the 2 Fast 2 Furious actress added, “Gracias @cinema.encyclopedia for this beautiful parallel universe connection.”

The video’s original caption highlighted the “perfect Hollywood full-circle moment,” as once Gosling’s new Ghost Rider movie, directed by Shawn Levy, hits theaters in 2028, it will be 21 years after Mendes starred in her Marvel movie.

The couple met while filming 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines. While she stepped away from Hollywood more than 10 years ago to focus on raising their two daughters and other career endeavors, she’s continued to publicly support her husband despite their famously private relationship.
