Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga and describes the story:

A boy named Kaboku sees a girl named Wanda dance, and suddenly burns with a need to join in. With its thrilling scenes of Japanese hip-hop dance and quirky, charming characters, this is a new, inspirational manga for fans of coming-of-age stories like Blue Period and Your Lie in April. Get up and join the Wandance!

Kaboku has always just gone with the flow, marching in step to the drumbeat of the expectations of those around him: parents, school, plans for the future. It feels predictable, safe, and… empty. But one night, Kaboku’s at school late, and he happens on a girl alone, moving wildly, turning a blank space of concrete into a canvas. This is Hikari Wanda, a member of the hip-hop dance club. Kaboku is immediately smitten, but the road to stepping out of his shell is a long one. The club is almost entirely girls, and they’re all, well, way better than him. What’s ahead is unknown, and that’s terrifying, but it also means, for the first time in Kaboku’s life… a taste of freedom.

&Team boy band member JO plays the film’s protagonist Kaboku Kotani, and Anji Ikehata (Yano-kun no Futsū no Hibi, Lonely Castle in the Mirror) stars as Hikari Wanda. Other cast members include Kira Yamaguchi as On Miyao, RAN Mazzel as Iori Itsukushima, TSUKKI as Gaku Kabeya, and Aloha Takamatsu as Usen Takumi.

Naoya Kusaba is directing the film, with a script by Keiichi Kobayashi. Dancer and entrepreneur Charisma Kantarō is supervising the film’s dances.

The film will open in Japan on November 27.

Coffee launched the manga in Afternoon magazine in 2019, and is simultaneously published in Kodansha‘s Magazine Pocket app. Kodansha published the manga’s 15th compiled book volume in December 2025. Kodansha USA Publishing will release the 14th volume in English on November 2026.

A television anime adaptation debuted in Japan in October 2025. Disney+ streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

Pre-orders begin this week for Switch, PS5, PC game

Arc System Works revealed on Thursday a new pre-order trailer for Disgaea creator Sōhei Niikawa and SuperNiche’s new game Demons’ Night Fever., and it reveals that the game will debut on October 22 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders for the game have begun on Steam, while physical edition pre-orders begin on Friday for PS5 and Switch.

Arc System Works describes the game’s story:

This is a story of another Earth, different from the one we live on.
Giga Super Death, the most wicked Devil of all, was just one step away from killing God… when suddenly, he was transformed into a helpless baby.

Anticipating such a crisis, he had been working through the night to develop the “DEMONS’ NIGHT FEVER” resurrection program—and finally, it was time to activate it.

Was it a prank of fate, or inevitable destiny? The one ensnared in this suspicious ritual was Killshiro Katanaka, a gloomy young man who despises the world.

Due to their aligned interests, a bizarre pact was formed. This is the story of pure EVIL, starring the Devil himself and his newfound disciple, Killshiro.

The genre of the game is listed as: “Enemies? Allies? Kill Kill Kill! The more you die, the stronger you become! Raising Speedrunning Simulation RPG.”

Tatsuya Yano (former Gust and Atelier series composer) is composing the music for the game and Yuji Himukai is the character designer. Roman Kitayama is credited with the original story and scenario.

The game stars:

Niikawa resigned from his position of Nippon Ichi Software president in 2022 due to personal reasons. He revealed his new game company SuperNiche in March 2025.

Niikawa joined Nippon Ichi Software in 1996. He worked for five years in sales and promotion. He became president and CEO in 2009. He discussed his rise within the company with ANN in an interview in 2012. Niikawa also served as president of NIS America. He is often credited with the creation of the Disgaea game series.
