More below on why Greta Lee won’t be returning for Season 5. Aaron Pierre is also likely out as hinted by showrunner Charlotte Stoudt.
What is The Morning Show Season 5 about?
Not many plot details despite character descriptions for new cast have been revealed. Stoudt teased that a time would be likely between Seasons 4 and 5 as have been in breaks between installments in the past.
It will be interesting to see Jesse Williams’ Vernon enter the fray as the new Head of News, a position that has been somewhat cursed and was taken by William Jackson Harper’s Ben last season while Mia (Karen Pittman) had been vying for it for a long time. Stoudt teased that things would “get interesting between” Mia and Ben in Season 5.
“Oddly enough, a door is open that wasn’t open before, and Mia’s now thinking, ‘Well, gosh, maybe I wanted the wrong job. Maybe I wanted the big job after all,’” Stoudt told Deadline. “So I think that may be Stella’s strongest legacy, to sort of remind Mia what she might be capable of, and that she might be a much better fit for that job than Stella ever was.”

Season four of The Morning Show” took place in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of season three. All of the below plot summary took place before UBN headed to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
What happened in The Morning Show Season 4?
Season 4 concluded with Celine Dumont’s (Marion Cotillard) downfall in the finale after she was exposed for a deepfake of Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and other manipulative tactics to control the narrative at the now merged UBA and NBN — UBN.
The Head of News position went to Ben (William Jackson Harper), a Celine hire, which strained Mia and Stella’s (Greta Lee) friendship before Stella made a huge mistake with an AI program she was trying to develop. Thus, she left the CEO position open, and Celine took it over in addition to serving as president of the board at UBN.

Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) and Charlie “Chip” Black (Mark Duplass) investigated an environmental justice campaign with Bel Powley popping back in to make a brief appearance as Claire Conway. Yanko (Nestor Carbonnell) saw her, but he still proposed to his girlfriend.
Alex had a fling with manosphere podcaster Brodie “Bro” Hartman (Boyd Holbrook) while Bradley and Corey (Billy Crudup) finally got together, though that was short-lived. Alex got on a plane to rescue Bradley from a gulag in Belarus.
Who is behind The Morning Show Season 5?
The series, which hails from television studio Media Res, is showrun and executive produced by Charlotte Stoudt, and directed and executive produced by Mimi Leder.

Variety first reported on Phillip’s new contract.
Last year, CNN signed another primetime host, Anderson Cooper, to a new contract. In addition to AC 360, Cooper hosts the Sunday newsmagazine The Whole Story.
Phillip also hosts Table for Five on Saturday mornings and the streaming series Confessions and Obsessions. She previously was the network’s senior political correspondents and the host of Inside Politics Sunday. She previously worked at The Washington Post, ABC News and Politico.
