Nintendo announced during the Nintendo Direct livestream on Wednesday that the METAL SLUG ULTIMATE COLLECTION game will launch for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2027. The METAL SLUG game’s X (formerly Twitter) account also announced the game’s launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam also in 2027. The game’s wishlist registration for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam are now open, and wishlist for Switch and Switch 2 will open at a later date. 

The game collection includes nine classic METAL SLUG titles, plus its Location Test version. 

The METAL SLUG game is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The end of the second video above also teases “a new Metal Slug is on the way.”

The Metal Slug Tactics game launched for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in November 2024, following several delays. The game was previously slated to debut in 2022, before being delayed to 2023 and then 2024. The game features returning characters Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma, as well as the SVX-15D Slugnoid mech.

Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures revealed on Thursday the new anime project for Akihito Yoshitomi‘s Eat-Man manga titled EAT-MAN The Over Order. The company also revealed a super teaser video, teaser visual, the main staff members, and the return of Masashi Ebara as protagonist Bolt Crank, from the two previous anime adaptations. 

Shunji Ōga (Romance of Three Kingdoms, several Soreike! Anpanman films, Golgo 13 chief director) is directing the new anime at Studio Cab. Original manga creator Yoshitomi is in charge of scripts and original designs, and Satoshi Hirayama (Cat’s Eye season 2, Lupin III specials, Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie) will adapt Yoshitomi’s character designs for animation. 

Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures had teased a new project on September 4. 

Yoshitomi drew his original Eat-Man manga from 1996 to 2002. Viz Media published part of the original manga in North America. The story follows Bolt Crank, a man who can eat anything and reproduce it in his right hand. The original manga received anime adaptations in 1997 and 1998. Bandai Entertainment released Eat-Man `98 on DVD with an English dub, and Discotek Media released both anime on subtitle-only DVD. Crunchyroll began streaming both anime in 2019.

Yoshitomi launched the Eat-Man The Main Dish manga in Kodansha‘s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in May 2014. The six-volume manga ended serialization in 2019. 

ADV Manga published Yoshitomi’s Ray manga, while Section23 Films released the Ray television anime as well as the Blue Drop anime inspired by Yoshitomi’s manga of the same name. Yoshitomi also drew Cyborg 009 Vs. Devilman: Breakdown, the manga adaptation of the Cyborg 009 Vs. Devilman crossover anime. The one compiled volume shipped in April 2016.
