Today on Sky Sports Racing: Newcastle, Worcester and Yarmouth | Racing News

We have a busy day’s racing on Monday with action from Newcastle, Worcester and Yarmouth, live on Sky Sports Racing…
3.07 Worcester – Potters Charm makes chasing debut
Potters Charm makes his chasing debut in the Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers to Follow Novices’ Chase at Worcester.
He found it tough when pitched into open company last season after only losing once in his novice campaign but got back to winning ways in January at Windsor before scoring at Grade Two level in the National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell.
Connections have always been optimistic of him doing his best work over fences so they will be hoping for a successful chasing debut, clearly being the one to beat.
Jupiter des Mottes remains unexposed and holds a good level of form over hurdles, notably when winning a solid handicap hurdle at Perth in April. He made his chasing debut back in November 2025 but did not take to fences at the time, however, he looks the type to improve for a fence at three miles and switched to top trainer Dan Skelton, a much better chasing attempt is anticipated.
Who’s Glen has run respectably over fences, and he can use his experience here, although Nick Scholfield’s charge will be hoping that the former two fluff their lines over fences.
Irish pointer, Vicomte le Brave makes rules debut.
6.00 Newcastle – Promising Starburster makes handicap debut
Promising two-year-old Starburster makes handicap debut in the Follow @attheraces On Instagram Nursery Handicap at Newcastle.
The Richard Spencer-trained filly was an eye-catching fourth on debut before improving for her second start when scoring at Newbury. She showed a willing attitude that day to beat Bidsta who won on her next two starts. Her unexposed profile and strong form should mean she can be very competitive off an opening mark of 82.
She does meet some creditable rivals as Innichen holds plenty of experience in big meeting nurseries and should go well in calmer waters and Blazing Inferno can bounce back to form after finishing last in the Weatherbys 2-Y-O Stakes at York, with a poor draw in 15.
Siouxperb could potentially be overlooked. He disappointed in the Coventry after a dazzling debut, before running well to finish a close second to a nice type in Sonic Angel. The Acomb Stakes was then too hot for him before he didn’t seem to enjoy the soft conditions at Ayr. He contains the potential to return to form back on the all-weather and dropped two-pounds in the handicap.
Minzelle is another who has been highly tried in Listed company after impressive early form. She has gone off favourite in her last three, although has not shown much.
2.24 Yarmouth – Eye-catching Status Symbol steps up in trip
Eye-catching Status Symbol steps up in trip in the British EBF Restricted Novice Stakes at Yarmouth.
His opposition set a solid standard, although Status Symbol stayed on very nicely into fourth on debut at 50-1. Ed Walker’s two-year-olds usually improve plenty for their first starts, and this son of Space Blues looks sure to improve now up in trip to 10 furlongs, with his dam being a winner over a mile and a half.
Able Tasman remains the only winner in the field as he won after a four-month break on his second start, beating the re-opposing Deira Moon, who he reopposes here.
Deira Moon ran on well that day, despite getting hampered in the final strides. He produced his best effort to date next time out at Goodwood when second again, and a seven-pound penalty for Able Tasman could bring them even closer.
Quintillion put up a much improved second start when bumping into the smart Wykehurst Park. Up again in trip to 10-furlongs should suit and he can put up a bold bid in attempting to break his maiden tag.
Good Job and Spong Hill make their debuts, with the former containing the most promising pedigree being half-brother to dual Group Two winner, Opal Tiara.

Women’s football: Billion-dollar boom is leaving players behind – Fifpro raises concerns
Culvin argues there is a growing disconnect between expectations and reality.
“I think there’s a wake-up call needed for the ecosystem, that our players are suffering and that there is not the kind of wraparound support and accountability that’s needed for players,” she said.
However, not all trends were negative.
One significant improvement being felt in the game concerns parenthood.
In 2017, nearly half of respondents said wanting a family could drive them out of football.
That figure has now fallen to 19%, which Fifpro attributes in part to maternity regulations that were introduced by Fifa in 2021 and updated two years ago.
“What we’ve concluded, which I think is incredibly important, is that targeted regulatory intervention works – maternity regulations were introduced in 2021,” said Culvin.
The report highlights a widening divide within the women’s game. The sport’s elite clubs and players have benefited from investment and visibility, yet much of the global workforce remains vulnerable.
“You’ve got an industry that’s very focused on the top 5% of players,” Culvin said.
“But then what you’ve got is the rest, which is 95% of the industry who are not paid on time, who have short contracts. They don’t get paid for 12 months – they are in incredibly vulnerable and precarious environments.”
Despite that, Fifpro insists the solution is not to slow down growth but to ensure that commercial success and player welfare develop together.
“There doesn’t need to be a choice for those between commercial growth and player protection,” said Culvin.
“Those two things need to go hand in hand and work in tandem.”
Her conclusion is clear.
“What we’re saying is enough is enough and the industry needs to react to the players’ needs and centralise the players’ voice, ensure that players have a seat at the table when decisions that affect them are being made about them.”
