CM Punk is heading back to Hollywood. Netflix dropped the first trailer for Guarding Stars on October 14, giving fans their first look at the former WWE champion in the upcoming romantic comedy, which arrives on November 18.

Punk does not dominate the trailer, but he makes his presence felt in a comedic makeover sequence, appearing alongside the rest of the cast before delivering a line that fans will instantly recognize as classic Punk. His exact role remains under wraps, but Netflix billing him among the featured cast strongly suggests this is more than a quick cameo.
What Is Guarding Stars About?
The film stars Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki and is based on Katherine Center’s bestselling novel The Bodyguard. The title was changed to avoid confusion with the iconic Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner film of a similar name, but the story stays true to the book: a professional bodyguard is hired to protect a Hollywood action star over the holidays, only for the assignment to get a lot more personal than either of them expected.
Punk’s Growing Hollywood Resume
This is far from Punk’s first acting gig. Over the past several years, the Best in the World has quietly built an impressive screen resume, with roles in Heels, Mayans M.C., Revival, several horror projects, and even voice work in Zootopia 2 — all while remaining one of WWE’s biggest stars.
Guarding Stars marks his highest-profile film role yet, and a strong performance could open the door to even bigger Hollywood opportunities. With the movie landing on Netflix on November 18, fans will not have to wait long to see what Punk brings to the screen this time.
