In one of the most explosive debuts in recent K-pop memory, Lee Soo Man’s new girl group A2O LITE hit No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 chart on October 14 — just one day after their official debut.

The nine-member girl group officially debuted on October 13 under A20 Entertainment, the new agency established by SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man. Their debut track “NEON” climbed all the way to the top of Melon’s main chart, reaching No. 1 at 11 p.m. KST on October 14.
A Double Debut Day
A2O LITE did not debut alone. On the same day, A20 Entertainment also launched the 15-member boy group A2O SOUL, whose pre-release single “SUPERSTAR” dropped at 6 p.m. KST on October 13. Two groups, two songs, one massive launch day for Lee Soo Man’s new empire.
Hitting No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 within 24 hours of debut is an almost unheard-of achievement. Melon’s main chart is notoriously difficult for even established acts to top, and rookie groups rarely crack the upper ranks in their first week — let alone take the crown on day one.
What This Means for Lee Soo Man’s New Chapter
After his departure from SM Entertainment, all eyes have been on what Lee Soo Man would do next. A20 Entertainment is his answer — and A2O LITE’s instant chart domination is the loudest possible statement that the legendary producer’s hit-making instincts are intact.
The industry will now be watching closely to see whether “NEON” can hold its position against the October comeback rush, and whether A2O LITE can convert this explosive start into a lasting career. For now, though, congratulations are in order: a No. 1 debut is the stuff of K-pop legend.
