Together with Serial-san (Credits: Our Insane Blogs)
Shueisha’s global digital manga platform MANGA MILLION has just expanded its catalog with a delightfully twisted new addition — Together with Serial-san (Serial-san to Issho) by Hiromasa Okujima, the artist famous for drawing some of the most handsome men in manga. The dark comedy’s arrival on the service gives international readers easy legal access to one of the most bizarre premises of the year.
What Is Together with Serial-san About?
The story kicks off with a sensational serial murder case gripping the public — and takes a hard left when the notorious killer himself shows up on the doorstep of Chihiro Yoshida, a college student who lives a life of absolute freedom and indulgence. Rather than calling the police, Yoshida makes a desperate, absurd proposal to save his own skin: why doesn’t the killer simply assume his identity and move in?
What follows is a high-stakes “impersonation cohabitation” — a chaotic comedy where getting found out is absolutely not an option. The setup blends suspense, dark humor, and the artist’s signature flair for beautiful men into something genuinely unlike anything else on the shelf right now.
The manga originally debuted in Shueisha’s Grand Jump Mucha magazine on February 25, and its addition to MANGA MILLION marks another step in Shueisha’s push to bring more of its catalog to a global digital audience.
Okujima’s Recent Hits: Baban Baban Ban Vampire and More
If the name Hiromasa Okujima rings a bell, it should — the creator has been on a tear. Okujima launched the Baban Baban Ban Vampire manga in Akita Shoten’s Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine in October 2021, and Akita Shoten published the series’ 14th compiled book volume on August 6.
The vampire series has already conquered multiple mediums: an anime adaptation streamed on Netflix in January 2025, followed by a live-action film that opened in theaters in July 2025. That cross-media success has made Okujima one of the most closely watched creators working today.
A Creator With Serious Range
Together with Serial-san is far from Okujima’s only notable work. The creator teamed up with SHOOWA on Bad Boys, Happy Home (Dōsei Yankee Akamatsu Seven), which was licensed by Viz Media’s SuBLime imprint for boys-love manga. The first volume released physically and digitally in July 2021, after the series launched in Akita Shoten’s Kachi Comi magazine in April 2018.
Okujima’s Katei Kyōshi no Kishi Knight Desu. (I Am the Home Tutor Kishi Knight.) also inspired a live-action series adaptation that premiered on January 5. The manga was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Nicchan Gecchan magazine in 2019, with one compiled volume published.
With MANGA MILLION adding Together with Serial-san to its library, global readers can now dive into Okujima’s twisted cohabitation comedy — and given the creator’s track record, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this one make the leap to anime sooner rather than later.
