Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist has issued a sweeping official statement on October 14, announcing the actor has been cleared of all allegations related to the late Kim Sae Ron’s KakaoTalk messages — and warning of aggressive legal action against anyone still spreading the claims.

According to the agency, allegations that Kim Soo Hyun violated the Child Welfare Act have been dismissed with a “no charges” decision after a thorough official investigation. “False claims that Kim Soo Hyun dated the deceased during their minority and the related Child Welfare Act violation allegations have been thoroughly investigated by authorities, who found no grounds for the charges,” the statement reads. “This matter is no longer a debate but proven falsehood through official investigation.”
The Initial Spreader Has Been Detained
The statement names Kim Se Ui of the Garosero Research Institute as the initial spreader of the false information, revealing that a court has issued an arrest warrant and that he is currently detained awaiting trial on charges including defamation by false information under the Information and Communications Network Act.
Gold Medalist warned that continuing to cite, repost, or redistribute the claims — including screenshots, thumbnails, or edited clips from the Garosero broadcasts — constitutes an illegal act that perpetuates the damage, and that even reposting without commentary does not exempt anyone from responsibility.
A Line in the Sand
The agency made clear its legal actions target not just false information but all attacks on the actor’s reputation: insulting expressions, personal attacks, malicious mockery, distorted facts, misleadingly edited videos, and even indirect defamation using initials or nicknames.
With the investigation closed and the original spreader detained, Kim Soo Hyun has resumed his activities — and his agency is making it unmistakably clear that the era of unchecked rumors is over.
