Pokémon TCG Delta Reign Booster Bundle Crashes to $54.49 at Walmart Days After Preorders Open

Pokémon TCG collectors hunting for an early bargain just got one they probably didn’t expect: the Mega Evolution — Delta Reign Booster Bundle has tumbled to $54.49 at Walmart, a $25.50 cut from its $79.99 price — just days after preorders for the set even went live.

According to a report by IGN’s Ben Williams, the deal comes from a third-party seller on Walmart’s marketplace, Cataclysm Games, which sliced the price of the six-pack bundle well below what anyone else is charging. Amazon, by comparison, still lists it at $64.45 — itself 16% off — while trading card marketplace TCGplayer estimates the bundle’s current market value at around $73.10.

A Pre-Release Discount That Almost Never Happens

What makes this drop so unusual is the timing. Delta Reign preorders only started appearing at Pokémon TCG retailers last week, and last Friday the Booster Bundle was still sitting at $74.95 on Amazon. In the modern Pokémon TCG market, booster bundles routinely drift below $55 — and sometimes $45 — over their lifespan, as happened with sets like Perfect Order and Pitch Black. But those slides take months. They almost never begin before a set has even released.

The roughly 32% markdown puts Walmart’s price nearly $20 under TCGplayer’s estimated market value, which makes it one of the steepest early discounts a new Pokémon TCG product has seen. Even the TCGplayer marketplace listings, which have been softening over the past week, bottom out at $72.31 — still far above the Walmart offer.

Should You Trust a Third-Party Seller?

Rock-bottom preorder pricing from an unfamiliar seller is usually a red flag, and IGN’s report urges the usual caution. In this case, though, the seller is Cataclysm Games, a name that has appeared regularly among Pokémon TCG marketplace sellers over the past several months. The outfit currently holds a rating of four and a half out of five stars, which suggests this is an established seller chasing volume rather than a fly-by-night listing.

That context matters because the deal only works if the order actually ships. Third-party marketplace sellers offering prices this far under market can disappear quickly — or run out of stock. With Delta Reign not yet released, anyone locking in the $54.49 price is essentially betting that the seller can fulfill the preorder at a loss-leading price.

For collectors who were already planning to buy the Booster Bundle, though, the math is hard to ignore: six packs at under $55 works out to barely more than $9 a pack, a rate you’d normally only see months into a set’s life cycle. Whether the price holds — or Walmart’s other sellers follow suit — remains to be seen, but for now this is the cheapest way to get into Delta Reign before launch.
