“Late Sunday night, I lost my brother Dean. Being away from my family these last few days has been hard, but they’ve been so supportive and encouraged me to fulfill my commitments this week,” Shotzi wrote. “I will, however, need to withdraw from my CMLL tour next week to be with my family and honor my brother’s memory.”
A Heartbreaking Turn
The news comes just months after Shotzi asked fans to help find Dean when he went missing following a frightening car crash near San Francisco’s Fort Mason and Marina District. At the time, security footage showed him walking away from the crashed vehicle, and Shotzi publicly pleaded for help locating him. He was later found alive and taken to a hospital — a moment of relief that has now turned to tragedy.
Stepping Away From a Career Opportunity
Shotzi noted that missing the CMLL trip was not an easy decision, especially after the honor of being selected for the prestigious CMLL Women’s Grand Prix. She had just returned to TNA Wrestling on October 13 as part of the promotion’s post-Bound For Glory television tapings, following the expiration of her MLW contract.
“It was a huge honor to be selected for the CMLL Grand Prix, and I don’t take that opportunity lightly. Thank you to everyone at CMLL and the fans for understanding how hard all this is for me.”
Our thoughts are with Shotzi, her family, and everyone who knew Dean during this incredibly difficult time.
