Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Remake Overview Trailer Reveals Hall of Fallen Foes, Launches November 5

Nintendo has released a brand-new overview trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, revealing a host of modern upgrades alongside a brand-new feature: the Hall of Fallen Foes. The remake launches on November 5.

The trailer dropped on Wednesday and walks players through just how much has changed in the rebuilt version of the 1998 classic. The standout addition is the Hall of Fallen Foes, a gallery where statues of defeated enemies stand on display, and players can step up to any statue to trigger a boss rematch.

Modern Controls Come to Hyrule

Beyond the new hall, the remake modernizes the way Link moves and fights. Traditional camera controls finally replace the N64-era system, and the trailer shows off new motion controls, a proper jump button, and a roll dash action that gives combat a quicker, snappier feel. Items can be assigned to the ZR button and swapped through a pop-up menu on the fly.

Perhaps the most charming addition is the music. Players can hum into the Switch 2’s microphone to play melodies in-game, and the game even recognizes notes from a purchasable real-world ocarina. A new Threads of Time menu recaps the story and points players toward their next objective, so returning and new players alike will not get lost in Hyrule’s two eras. Unlike the original, time now passes while in town, adding a new layer of life to the world.

Deep App Integration With Zelda Notes

The remake connects to the Zelda Notes feature in the Nintendo Switch App in a big way. Today’s Record recaps your progress on your phone, while Gossip Quests work like a scavenger hunt that earns points exchangeable for ocarina music scores, which can then be played through the app’s Play Ocarina function. The app also packs an Ocarina of Time Quiz with over 2,000 questions, and rupees earned in the app can be spent in-game and vice versa.

Merchandise is on the way too: new amiibo of Young Link and Young Zelda will ship in 2027, each unlocking in-game masks for their respective character. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console, a matching Pro Controller, and a carrying case arrive October 29. The game also features added dialogue, giving familiar scenes a bit of fresh flavor.

The original Ocarina of Time debuted on the Nintendo 64 in November 1998 in the U.S. and Japan, becoming the first 3D entry in the series and one of the most influential games ever made. It has been re-released many times since, including Ocarina of Time 3D on the Nintendo 3DS in June 2011, but this Switch 2 remake looks to be the most ambitious revisit yet.
