Yume & Company Get a Once-in-a-Lifetime Invitation
The film’s story picks up just before the graduation of Yume and her friends. They receive a surprise invitation from Neo Venus Ark’s Elza Forte to perform at the “Venus Jamboree” event alongside the world’s top idols. Then a mysterious passenger ship, the Petit Venus Ark, appears before them.
The announcement film’s staff should reassure longtime fans: series director Teruo Sato is back to direct the movie at Bandai Namco Pictures, head writer Yūko Kakihara returns to pen the scenario, and character designer Yukiko Aikei resumes her role from the original series.
A Decade of Aikatsu Stars
The original Aikatsu Stars! television anime debuted on TV Tokyo in April 2016 and ran for 100 episodes until March 2018. The first Aikatsu Stars! film opened in August 2016, making this anniversary film a homecoming for fans who grew up with Yume’s journey.
The broader Aikatsu! franchise has kept moving since — from Aikatsu Friends! and Aikatsu on Parade! to the hybrid live-action series Aikatsu! Planet and the YouTube-exclusive VTuber project Aikatsu! Academy!. But for Stars fans, January 22 marks the return they’ve waited a decade for.
