Diamond Dallas Page just turned his frustration at the gas pump into one of the best wrestling jokes of the week. The WWE Hall of Famer took to social media to complain about sky-high fuel prices, and he dragged his longtime friend Kevin Nash‘s most famous gimmick into the mix.
Kevin Nash as Diesel (Credits: Ringside News)
DDP posted a meme styled like a gas station price board, showing Diesel at $6.10 9/10, regular at $4.89 9/10, plus at $5.09 9/10, and premium at $5.29 9/10. But it was the Diesel price that gave him the perfect punchline — and he couldn’t resist pointing it out.
“Last time Diesel was 6.10 is when my boy @RealKevinNash was owning the @WWE! 🤣” DDP wrote, quoting the image featuring Nash from his days as Diesel in WWE.
The Diesel Days
For newer fans, the reference is a deep cut into one of wrestling’s most iconic eras. Nash portrayed Diesel during his first WWE run in the mid-1990s, rising to become one of the company’s biggest stars. He captured the WWE Championship in 1994 and held the title for nearly a full year — a reign that lasted 358 days — before jumping to WCW in 1996, where he became a founding member of the legendary nWo alongside Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan.
The Diesel character was WWE’s vision of the ultimate cool-giant enforcer: the black gloves, the slicked-back hair, the menacing presence. Nash played it to perfection, and it remains one of the most memorable gimmicks of the New Generation era.
A Friendship Forged In The Kliq
What makes DDP’s joke land even harder is the real-life friendship behind it. DDP and Nash’s bond dates back decades — Nash was one of the founding members of the backstage Kliq, and DDP carved his own path in WCW before the two crossed over in the mainstream. Both men have stayed close through the years, appearing together at conventions and wrestling events, and DDP has frequently credited the support of his fellow veterans for his remarkable post-wrestling success with DDP Yoga.
That DDP would roast his own buddy over the price of diesel is peak locker-room humor — affectionate, public, and perfectly timed. Nash, who is no stranger to clapping back online, may well have a response of his own before the tank is full.
With one wrestling throwback and a painfully familiar trip to the pump, DDP turned everyday inflation anxiety into a nostalgia-fueled gem. The price of diesel might be painful, but at least the joke was free.
