LeBron James gave a sold-out Philadelphia crowd exactly what it came to see on Friday night, throwing down a monster alley-oop from Tyrese Maxey in his 76ers home debut. The preseason finale against the Boston Celtics was James’s first game in front of the Philly faithful as a Sixer.

The Lob Heard Around Philly
The moment came midway through the first quarter. James deflected a pass, sprinted down the floor with no defenders near him, and Maxey floated a lob pass that James snared and hammered home for a two-handed dunk. The arena of 19,746 fans erupted, offering a glimpse of what the new James-Maxey two-man game could become this season.
James later added a layup after setting a screen at the top of the key, and spent stretches bringing the ball up himself, relieving Maxey of ball-handling duties. He finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in 25 minutes before Nick Nurse pulled him late in the third quarter.
Embiid Shines as Celtics Fall
While James drew the loudest ovation before Joel Embiid’s introduction, it was Embiid who led Philadelphia with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, reportedly playing 20 to 25 pounds lighter. Maxey added 22 points and 6 assists, and former Sixer Jaylen Brown put up 20 for Boston.
