TVING’s upcoming revenge drama The Obedient Killer has found its new leading lady, with Jo Bo Ah officially stepping in to replace Lee Chung Ah and joining filming from October 17.
On October 17, Jo Bo Ah’s agency confirmed the casting news, saying: “Jo Bo Ah has joined the drama and will participate in filming starting from the 17th.” The agency added that as she has become part of a great drama, she will do her utmost to deliver a great performance.
Why Lee Chung Ah Stepped Down
Lee Chung Ah was originally cast in the role but had to step down partway through filming after a car accident reportedly aggravated a pre-existing back condition. The injury made it difficult for her to handle the drama’s numerous action scenes, forcing the difficult recasting decision mid-production.
A 1970s Revenge Story With Real Stakes
Set in the 1970s and 1980s, The Obedient Killer tells the story of a woman whose only goal in life was to become a devoted wife and mother. After her divorce, however, she takes an unexpected job just to make ends meet, setting her on a dangerous new path.
Jo Bo Ah will play Lee Hwa Ra, who goes by the code name “Miss Lee,” a role that promises heavy action sequences and emotional range. Notably, the drama marks Jo Bo Ah’s return to the small screen after she gave birth to her first child this past February, making this comeback role one to watch closely.
