The main event of AEW WrestleDream 2026 delivered absolute chaos, as Will Ospreay survived the brutal Clockwork Carnage match to retain the AEW World Championship on October 18.

The eight-man battle featured a stacked field: Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, Samoa Joe, Mike Bailey, Adam Copeland, Konosuke Takeshita, Ricochet, and Darby Allin — all fighting for the biggest prize in the company.

How Clockwork Carnage Works

The Clockwork Carnage match ran in two phases. Every three minutes, another randomly selected wrestler entered the ring, and until all eight had entered, any wrestler pinned or submitted was eliminated. Once the final wrestler entered, a 15-minute scoring phase began, with every pinfall or submission counting as one fall.

Ospreay drew number one and started the match against Takeshita, who entered second. Bailey came in at three, Ricochet at four, Darby Allin at five, Okada at six, and Copeland at seven. Takeshita eliminated Bailey early, while Okada took out Takeshita. Samoa Joe was the final entrant.

Ospreay Seals It in the Final Seconds

The scoring phase came down to Ospreay, Joe, Okada, Copeland, Allin, and Ricochet. In the dying seconds of the 15-minute window, Ospreay pinned Copeland to secure the most falls and keep his championship reign alive.

After the bell, Copeland and Ospreay shook hands in a show of respect — a fitting end to a match that pushed every man involved to his limit.
