Busted Open Early, Targeted All Night

Both wrestlers had shared the ring many times in the weeks leading up to the event — on the October 14 edition of AEW Dynamite, the Don Callis Family (Jake Doyle, Mark Davis and Wardlow) defeated Death Riders (Daniel Garcia, Gabe Kidd and Moxley). Early on in the title bout, Moxley’s head got busted open, and Davis ruthlessly targeted the wounded area throughout the match, even biting it at one point.

Piledriver On The Apron Nearly Ends It

The challenger later hit a piledriver on the apron, which took Moxley out for a bit. As the referee counted, Moxley managed to get back into the ring on the ninth count — only for Davis to deliver a kick to his head and send him tumbling out again. The second count seemed to be the end, until Marina Shafir and Daniel Garcia showed up at ringside to give the champion a pep talk. Powered through, Moxley got back in the ring.

A Tribute To Pac Seals The Win

Towards the end, Moxley paid tribute to the late Pac by using The Brutalizer on Davis. He then changed his grip and applied a rear naked choke, which eventually took Davis out — the challenger passed out, handing the victory to the Continental Champion. A brutal defense, and one more title stays with the Death Riders.
