Jordan Love and the Packers celebrate at Lambeau Field (Credits: ESPN)
The Green Bay Packers made their case as one of the hottest teams in the NFL on Sunday Night Football, beating the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 at Lambeau Field behind Jordan Love’s two-touchdown night and a defense that forced Dak Prescott into two interceptions.
The win moved Green Bay to 4-2 with its third straight victory, while Dallas fell to 2-4 as its defensive struggles continued under the lights.
Third-Down Mastery Decides the Night
The story of the game was Green Bay’s efficiency on the money down. The Packers converted each of their first seven third-down attempts and finished 11-of-18 on the night, keeping drives alive while Dallas’ defense wilted in key moments. The opening drive set the tone: four third-down conversions on a 14-play, 90-yard march capped by Love’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Golden.
Green Bay built a commanding 17-0 halftime lead, with Love adding a 1-yard quarterback sneak just before the break. The Packers have now won three straight as they await the return of running back Josh Jacobs, who comes off the commissioner’s exempt list on Monday.
Love’s Numbers Could Have Been Even Bigger
Love finished 23-of-41 for 276 yards with a passing touchdown and a rushing score, plus his first-ever interception on a Sunday night start. But the box score undersells his performance — Golden and Christian Watson dropped three would-be touchdown passes that could have pushed Love near 340 yards and three scores.
Golden still delivered an excellent night: six catches for 104 yards and the opening touchdown. On the other side, Prescott went 34-of-54 for 258 yards with a touchdown and two picks, throwing a 6-yard score to Ryan Flournoy with 44 seconds left after the game was already decided.
The game was penalty-filled — 22 flags total, 11 on each team — but Green Bay’s defense stood tall when it mattered most. The Packers improved to 11-1-1 in their last 13 meetings with the Cowboys, a dominance that shows no signs of stopping.
