Skadi has opened up about the weight of carrying her mother Marcela’s legendary name in CMLL, calling her journey “pretty tough” but vowing to honor the family legacy. The rising star spoke candidly in a new interview with Fightful’s Luis Pulido on October 18.

Marcela is widely regarded as one of the greatest female wrestlers in Mexican history, holding the CMLL World Women’s Championship a record five times across her storied career. Her daughter chose to follow her into the same ring — and into the shadow of one of lucha libre’s biggest legends.
The Burden Of A Famous Name
Skadi didn’t sugarcoat how hard it’s been. She admitted she was blessed with a mother “who wasn’t like anyone else” — but that blessing came with enormous pressure.
“I wasn’t just the daughter of any wrestler; I was the daughter of Marcela, the one who was champion, who traveled to Japan a thousand times, who traveled all over the world,” she said. Early in her career, she didn’t even want people to know she was Marcela’s daughter, because she knew how complicated the comparisons would get.
Even now, she says the comparisons keep coming — that she doesn’t have her mother’s career or experience. “We’re different people with totally different careers from different generations,” she explained, adding that the constant pressure to become her mother has taken a toll “both physically and mentally.”
A Grateful Daughter
Despite the struggle, Skadi’s gratitude for her mother has only grown with time. She credits Marcela with keeping her grounded — “if she hadn’t put the brakes on me or given me a good scolding, maybe I wouldn’t have understood it the way I do today.”
She also paid tribute to what her mother fought for. Back in Marcela’s era, women’s matches got only a few minutes to prove to audiences that women belonged in wrestling at all. Today, CMLL cards feature women’s main events and multiple women’s bouts — a transformation Skadi credits directly to her mother’s generation.
“She paved the way for a very important generation,” Skadi said. “I feel like I’m doing a good job; I think I’m going to carry on her legacy with great honor.”
The interview also touched on her upcoming clash with Olympia in the 2026 CMLL Amazonas Universal Championship Tournament finals — a match that could add a major chapter to her own legacy.
