A 20-Year Disney Veteran Takes The Helm

Choi is currently executive vice president of The Walt Disney Company APAC. In the top job, she will run Disney Entertainment’s operations across Greater China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand — spanning film studios, Disney+, locally produced originals, content sales, media networks and consumer products.

A 20-year Disney veteran, Choi has most recently overseen the company’s regional studios business, original content strategy and integrated marketing. She previously served as managing director of Disney in Japan and Korea, alongside senior leadership positions in Greater China. Her tenure has included supporting the regional expansion of Disney+, growing the theatrical business and developing partnerships with creative talent across the region.

Disney Backs Kang’s Legacy

Disney Entertainment Studios chairman Alan Bergman and ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro praised the pick in a joint statement: “Carol Choi is a proven Disney leader with broad operating experience, strong creative instincts, and a deep understanding of the region, and she is the perfect person to lead the organisation into its next chapter.”

They also credited Kang, who joined Disney in 2011 as managing director of Korea before taking on Greater China and North Asia, with strengthening the company’s businesses and deepening its connection with fans across APAC. The transition comes as Asian productions become an increasingly important part of Disney’s streaming strategy.
