Jon Stewart Jokes Skydance 'Pulled Our Renewal' Before Slamming JD Vance, Trump and Emmanuel Macron

Jon Stewart wasted no time on Monday night. Fresh off the news that Skydance Television had renewed his “Daily Show” deal through December 2028, the host opened the show by pretending the exact opposite had happened — then unleashed a blistering monologue on Vice President JD Vance, President Donald Trump, and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Renewal Joke

Kicking off the show, Stewart introduced guest David Corn — “who you know the Native Americans used to refer to as David Maize” — and deadpanned: “And they’ve just pulled our renewal! I’m sorry.” The gag landed on the very day Skydance Television confirmed Stewart’s contract extension, which keeps him in the Monday-night chair past the November 2028 presidential election.

The extension, announced Monday, makes Stewart an executive producer and host of the Monday edition through the end of 2028, a deal that underscores how valuable he has become to Comedy Central under its new ownership. George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance TV, called Stewart “a generational talent” and the show “one of the most influential franchises on television.”

Vance Gets the Stewart Treatment

With the corporate jokes out of the way, Stewart turned to Vance — whom he dubbed “Vice President Jeffrey Dahmer Vance.” He rolled a clip of Vance apologizing to a woman for his “imperfect” rhetoric, then tore into the framing: “Sometimes you incite violence against vulnerable communities, and then later on you apologize,” Stewart said. “So the dehumanizing rhetoric against immigrants, which all of us thought was a cornerstone and intentional strategy of both Donald Trump and JD Vance’s rise to power… actually, that wasn’t intentional. It was all just sloppy word choice.”

“Paris Is Burning — Not in the Good, Fun Way”

Stewart then pivoted to France, where riots over the weekend had French officials insisting the unrest had nothing to do with immigration, Islam, or Muslim communities. That hadn’t stopped Vance from posting that “western liberals imported the third world into France.” Stewart’s reply: “Are you seriously suggesting that immigrants have brought a culture of revolution and protest to France? What are you talking about? Have you ever been to the theater? Can you not hear the people sing?”

With a renewed contract in his pocket and the next presidential election squarely in his crosshairs, Stewart made clear Monday night that he’s not easing up — and that no one, from the vice president to his own new bosses, is off-limits.
