NHK has officially revealed the cast for the live-action series adaptation of Kazumi Yamashita’s “Twisted Sisters” manga, and the premiere date is locked in. The drama debuts on BS and BSP4K in January 2027, with Miori Takimoto joined by Yumia Fujisaki, Hikari Ishida, and Hisako Manda in the ensemble.

A Family Reunited by a Strange Will
The story follows manga artist Rikako, who is pulled back into the orbit of her estranged sisters when their dying father’s will forces all five of them to live together in a mansion. Buried in the arrangement is a bombshell: a secret sister Rikako never knew existed.
The series is being co-written by Masao Iketani and Tomomi Maruyama, with Takashi Ninomiya directing — a solid team for what promises to be an emotionally knotty family drama.
Yamashita’s Manga Keeps Growing
Yamashita launched “Twisted Sisters” in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in June 2021, and the manga is still going strong: the ninth compiled volume shipped January 22, and the tenth arrives this Thursday. The creator is best known in English for “Land” — published by Yen Press, which is also bringing her “Wonder Boy” manga to English readers.
With the live-action series landing in January, the manga’s tenth volume dropping this week, and a growing English audience, Yamashita is having quite the moment.
