Shochiku has announced that it is producing a live-action film adaptation of Mizuki Hoshino’s Fukakōryoku no I Love You (I Love You by Force Majeure) manga, set to open in Japan on March 5, 2027. The film will star Kōta Nomura and Juri Kōsaka in the lead roles.

Live-Action Film Cast and Staff Revealed
Nomura, known from the live-action BLUE LOCK and My Dress-Up Darling, will play Saku Wataya, the school heartthrob at the center of the story. Opposite him, Juri Kōsaka, known for The Scent of the Wind, takes on the role of Sena Kodama, the first-year student who cannot stop herself from falling for him.
Behind the camera, Yuka Yasukawa, who directed the live-action My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 and At 25:00 in Akasaka season 2, is directing the film. The script is written by Haruka Ōkita, whose credits include the live-action And Yet, You Are So Sweet and Kiss Me at the Stroke of Midnight, while Yoshitaka Fujimoto is composing the music.
A Story of Feelings That Cannot Be Resisted
The manga follows Sena Kodama, a first-year high school student who desperately tries to suppress her feelings for her senior Wataya, the school’s reigning heartthrob. No matter how hard she tries to get over him, she always ends up getting swept away by his charms — and somehow finds herself on a “try-out date” with him.
Hoshino launched the manga in Shueisha’s Margaret magazine in August 2023, and the series has proven to be a steady hit. Shueisha published the manga’s ninth compiled book volume on June 25, showing the series continues to build its fanbase as it heads toward the screen.
Hoshino is no stranger to manga serialization. She previously launched the Tiger & Dragon series in Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine in February 2022, and Shueisha shipped the fourth and final compiled book volume in April 2023. Seven Seas released all four volumes of that series in English.
The announcement adds to the growing wave of live-action adaptations of popular shojo manga in Japan, and with a proven rom-com creative team behind it, fans of the source material will be watching closely to see how Sena and Wataya’s story translates to the big screen next spring.
