WaterTower Music has released “Desert Chant,” the first single from Dune: Part Three (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), performed by two-time Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and four-time Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet. The track is available now on all major digital platforms, ahead of the film’s release in theaters and IMAX on December 18.

From a Hum to a War Chant
“Desert Chant” begins quietly, with Chalamet humming, before opening up into a rousing, epic war chant that sets the tone for the final chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s saga. The collaboration extends a creative thread that began earlier in the year, when Zimmer revealed that the Fremen chanting heard in the film’s trailer was performed by Chalamet himself.
Zimmer has described returning to Arrakis as a return to the novel that first fired his imagination as a teenager, the same book that bonded him with Villeneuve. The pair’s shared obsession with Frank Herbert’s work, he said, turned them into creative brothers, and the Dune films became the place where their teenage dreams finally met craft and experience.
A Darker Final Chapter
Dune: Part Three, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, brings Villeneuve’s epic trilogy to its conclusion. Inspired by Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, the story unfolds nearly two decades after Part Two, with Paul Atreides now a ruthless emperor facing the consequences of his reign. Old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, betrayal lurks in every shadow, and Paul is haunted by visions of imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love.
Villeneuve has said the film is tonally distinct from its predecessors: “If the first movie was contemplation, a boy exploring a new world, and the second one is a war movie, this one is a thriller. It is action-packed and tense. More muscular.” The production was largely shot on film, with extensive use of 65mm and IMAX formats, while desert scenes were captured digitally for maximum visual impact.
A Stellar Ensemble
The film stars Timothée Chalamet alongside Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem. With “Desert Chant” out now and December 18 approaching, the road back to Arrakis is officially underway.
