Money can’t buy family harmony — and “What a Boss Wants” is making that painfully clear. Newly released stills put Sung Hoon’s chaebol boss Kwon Do Hyuk front and center of a family at war with itself.

Based on a popular web novel, “What a Boss Wants” is a romance drama about Kwon Do Hyuk (Sung Hoon), a chaebol heir with no sense of taste who sets out to find the woman whose voice he heard on an album — and Lee Eun Chae (Oh Se Young), the indie band’s lead vocalist who becomes the one unpredictable variable in his otherwise perfect life.
Sung Hoon plays Do Hyuk as the son of a top-1-percent chaebol family: handsome, aristocratic, a perfectionist with zero empathy who trusts no one and takes interest in no one. The new stills suggest there’s a reason for that armor — home.
A Family Photo That Says Everything
In one still, all four family members gather for a portrait, yet a subtle, unmistakable distance lingers between them. Other stills zoom in on the fault lines: tension crackles between Do Hyuk and his father Kwon Tae Woong (Park Jung Hak), and between Do Hyuk and his stepmother Jung Mi Sun (Kim Yun Kyung) — who is outraged by her husband’s unilateral decision to name Do Hyuk CEO.
The one soft spot in the household appears to be youngest daughter Kwon Do Yeon (Kim Seung Hee). Unlike her mother, she respects her older brother more than her own father — and that loyalty makes her deeply suspicious of any woman who gets close to him. Expect fireworks when Eun Chae enters the picture.
One Gentle Voice
The stills also spotlight chief secretary Park Joon Sang (Lee Do Yeop), whose gentle demeanor quietly conveys his hope that father and son will finally have a sincere conversation. Whether the K-drama lets that happen is another question.
“What a Boss Wants” premieres on November 11 at 10:20 p.m. KST.
