A Korean actor has been accused of investment fraud and document forgery in a case with claimed damages of ₩490 million KRW (about $369,000 USD). According to a report by Hankook Ilbo on October 21, Ahn Yong Joon was reported to the Busan Haeundae Police Station on the same day on charges including fraud, forgery of private documents, use of forged documents, and signature forgery.

The complainant, identified only as “A”, is said to have known Ahn for a long time. After being asked by the actor to help translate a performance contract, A invested in a business Ahn proposed — and that is where things allegedly went wrong.

Forged Contracts and Phantom Deals

The accusation paints a picture of a deal built on fabricated paperwork. According to the complaint, Ahn presented exclusive contracts bearing the names of famous actors and pitched investments in performances, fan meetings, and album production, promising to share the profits. But the names, signatures, and seals on those contracts were allegedly forged, the complaint claims.

It does not stop there. The accuser’s side alleges Ahn claimed to have signed contracts with major entertainment agencies and album producers — deals that, in reality, did not exist. Even the invoice he presented as proof of repayment funds is said to have been a forged document.

The ₩490 million figure needs context: the accuser’s side says it covers not only unrecovered investments but also amounts that A claims are being demanded by third parties, meaning the entire sum was not directly invested by A in Ahn’s ventures.

More Victims Possible, Former Agency Also Claims Victimhood

A’s legal representative, lawyer Shim, told investigators there “may be others who suffered damages” and asked them to check for additional victims. Alongside the criminal complaint, a civil lawsuit for damages and a provisional seizure of claims are also underway.

In a twist, Ahn’s former agency has also come forward. Ahn’s exclusive contract with Creamate Media has already ended, and a former agency official told Hankook Ilbo by phone: “I am also a victim and will soon file a complaint.”

It is important to note that this case rests on the accuser’s claims, and the specific charges and facts will only be confirmed through the police investigation.
