Joe Fraser World Bronze in All-Around Final Behind Hashimoto and Yang
Fraser totaled 83.531 points to claim bronze, finishing behind Japan’s Daiki Hashimoto, who won his fourth consecutive world all-around title with 85.998, and China’s Yang Haonan, who took silver with 84.199 in his World Championships debut.
Hashimoto’s victory was the largest margin of victory in a men’s all-around at an Olympics or worlds since Kohei Uchimura’s 1.958-point win in 2013 — the 25-year-old has now won four straight titles and moves two shy of the record shared by Uchimura and Simone Biles.
A Tense Finish for Fraser’s First All-Around Medal
For Fraser, the medal completes an emotional week. The two-time Olympian qualified seventh into the final and had been disappointed with his team final performance, but he hit when it mattered. His bronze was sealed in dramatic fashion as the final competitor, Japan’s Tomoharu Tsunogai, could only manage 14.600 — not enough to knock the Brit off the podium.
It caps a championships of near-misses and what-ifs for others: Shinnosuke Oka, the 2024 Olympic all-around champion, qualified first but fell on both vault and high bar to finish eighth, while Jake Jarman of Great Britain ended sixth and Frederick Richard of the USA placed ninth — becoming the first American man to place in the top 10 at multiple worlds since Sam Mikulak.
Fraser, 27, has been a British gymnastics mainstay for years — he’s the only British man to have won an all-around major championships title — and this bronze adds to a career total that already includes a 2025 world horizontal bar bronze. But an all-around medal at worlds has long eluded him. Until now.
