The upcoming webtoon-based drama One of a Kind Romance has dropped a new couple poster and a fresh set of stills, and the chemistry is already doing the talking. Red Velvet’s Joy stars as Gong Yu Il, while Kim Hyun Jin plays top star Tak Mu I — two people whose lives collide in the most unlikely way.
Gong Yu Il is an ordinary woman still hunting for a job and dreaming of a quiet, normal life. Tak Mu I, by contrast, lives in the spotlight, but he is quietly carrying deep emotional scars from a past stalking incident that changed how he trusts the people around him.
From Suspicious Customer to Something More
The new stills trace how their relationship shifts step by step. They first cross paths in a convenience store, where she is working as a clerk and he shows up as a wary, suspicious customer. That awkward first meeting slowly turns into regular encounters, and the distance between them visibly shrinks in each new image.
The turning point comes when Tak Mu I learns who Gong Yu Il really is. Years earlier, a novel she wrote gave him the strength to keep going during his darkest period — and he has admired its author ever since without knowing her face. Once he discovers the truth, he is the one who starts actively approaching her.
In the couple poster, the pair hold a bouquet of white roses and lean into a soft, romantic mood that is a long way from their prickly first meeting. Another still catches Tak Mu I leaning in close to her face while she reacts with a flustered, self-conscious expression — a clear sign that her feelings are starting to move too.
What to Expect From the 12-Episode Run
The drama is built around a sweet but healing premise: a woman who wants an ordinary life, and a star who found comfort in her words long before he ever met her. Their romance develops gradually as they keep crossing paths by chance and slowly let their guards down.
One of a Kind Romance will run for 12 episodes and is set to premiere on November 9. With the poster and stills now out, anticipation is building for Joy’s return to the small screen in a warm, heart-fluttering role opposite Kim Hyun Jin.
