tvN’s period spy romance “100 Days of Deception” just dropped a set of stills that have fans talking. In the newly released photos, Kim You Jung and Park Jinyoung get close under a black backdrop curtain at a Jongno photo studio, and the shift in their on-screen dynamic is unmistakable.

Set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, the drama follows Lee Ga Kyeong (Kim You Jung), a pickpocket who becomes an undercover spy for the independence movement. She infiltrates the Japanese Government-General of Korea, where she crosses paths with interpreter Kim Tae Woong, who also goes by Sato Hideo (Park Jinyoung) — the adopted son of the Inspector-General of Korea, the second-highest-ranking official in the administration.
The curtain moment
In the new stills, Sato Hideo’s gaze is drawn to Lee Ga Kyeong’s smile as she sits in front of the camera. The two then end up face to face beneath the studio’s black backdrop curtain, a moment the production hints signals their newfound closeness and the first sparks of real romance.
The pair’s relationship has been a slow burn of suspicion so far. From their first encounter at Gyeongseong Station to their reunion as interpreters inside the Government-General, they have circled each other warily. These stills suggest that wariness is finally giving way to something softer.
What’s coming in episode 5
The upcoming episode raises the stakes. Fukuda (Kim Joong Hee), chief of the Government-General’s Police Bureau, orders Lee Ga Kyeong to interpret the interrogation of an arrested independence fighter — a situation that threatens to blow her cover. Watching from the sidelines, Sato Hideo grows increasingly concerned for her, and viewers are bracing for how far he will go to protect her.
Episode 5 airs October 24 at 9:10 p.m. KST, and the production team is teasing that the interrogation storyline will push both characters into uncharted emotional territory.
