Compilation Film Gets New Trailer and Theme Song
The official X/Twitter account for the anime of Taizan 5’s beloved yet heartbreaking manga Takopii no Genzai dropped the new footage on Friday. Titled Takopii no Genzai -Arigatō, Mata Ashita- (Takopi’s Original Sin: Thank You, See You Tomorrow), the film repackages the six-episode TV series for the big screen.
Tele previously performed the ending theme song for the television anime, so the choice keeps the film’s music tied to what fans already know and love. The trailer previews the new song alongside fresh visuals from the film.
About Takopi’s Original Sin
The story follows Takopi, a cute pink alien octopus who lands on Earth with one mission: to spread happiness throughout the universe. The first person he meets is Shizuka Kuze, a depressed fourth grader, and his misguided attempts to help her with advanced time-rewinding technology spiral into mayhem and death.
The six-episode series debuted on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA, U-NEXT and other services in June 2025, directed by Shinya Iino (Dr. Stone) with character designs by Keita Nagahara (Violet Evergarden). The anime even won the Jury Award for a TV series at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Taizan 5 launched the manga on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in December 2021, ending it in March 2022. The two-volume series earned nominations for the 16th Manga Taisho Awards and the 27th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes, and Viz Media publishes it in English.
