A World Where Paint Shapes Reality
In “The Painted Soul,” apprentice painter Yun Hwa lives in a world where paintings possess the power to shape reality, and the greatest painters serve Shinpilwon, the royal institution responsible for preserving order through art. Attempting to pass her final promotion exam, Yun Hwa breaks into a forbidden annex and accidentally awakens Seol Jin — a legendary spirit painter sealed away a century ago.
The new teaser opens with a mysterious voice remembering Seol Jin as “kinder than anyone else.” After breaking the barrier sealing him away, Yun Hwa begs him: “Please take me as your disciple” — eager to learn from the legendary painter.
Master and Disciple Against the Palace
As the two become master and disciple, they begin to face unexpected danger with trouble brewing in the palace. Bound by fate, the pair team up to set the world right — setting up a sweeping fantasy about art, power, and destiny.
The series, which pairs traditional Korean storytelling with AI-assisted production, marks one of the most ambitious animated projects to land on Viki this year.
